One of my passions is to showcase Autistic Artists. This is a subject very close to my heart, as when Tim was very little we were told, he lacked imagination! Oh boy, they were wrong, very, very wrong!

At the time, my son dressed up as characters and spent all day as them, we even had to call him Buzz, or Harry, or whoever it was on that day. He tried to swing from the lampshade like Buzz, fly from the top bunk on a broomstick and fight evil villains when in the shower. There was nothing wrong with his imagination, far from it. If anything, he had a problem with reality, it was so boring!

In the depths of Tim’s trauma, post 2013, The Hood was born. Tim used The Hood to help him process what had happened to him, he used The Hood to explain to others and The Hood became an incredible tool to help him heal.

Since then, I have been really interested in how art, in its many forms, can be used as a strategy for understanding, communication and recovery.

My intention is to hold this space for work that autistic artists of any variety and showcase their creativity. We will share a link should you wish to find out more about their work.
